Hasta La Vista Baby! – When an Employee Must Go

Recently I was in a meeting with a group of employees and one of kept complaining about the company he worked for. Bad mouthing the company for not doing this or not doing that, he did not have one good thing to say. At the end of his rant, I looked at the individual, let’s call him Bob and passed him a newspaper that was subtly flipped over to the want ads. I told him “Here’s the answer to your prayers” and left.

Some of you may criticize me for being too much in favour of the company, too much in favour of the employer but I beg you to listen.

  • If you’re not happy leave and find a better job.
  • Stop making everybody else miserable, just because you are.
  • Sorry your life at home is miserable but here’s the card to our EAP service.
  • If you don’t like this paycheck we can provide most of it to charity or some other better adjusted individual that actually wants to work here.

No company is perfect but surely you can find one that you like better than this one. As the Terminator once said: Hasta la vista baby.
