Why Social Media is Not the Answer to your Recruiting Problems

Why social media is not the answerI love social media, it’s an amazingly fertile environment to interact, educate and propagate your raison-d’etre. The challenge is too many people in recruitment go crazy on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media forums without having a recruitment strategy. A month or so ago, in the following article, I discussed how to measure ROI for recruitment. To measure ROI, you need a strategy!

Social media without a recruitment strategy is a waste of time for corporations and recruiters. Are you there to get more followers? To become popular? To get more business or to actually recruit live candidates? Wake up and get serious about how you use social media for recruitment. Technology can be exciting, it can be so enticing that sometimes we are so enthralled that we lose our objectivity. Your social media recruitment strategy needs to outline key outcomes and be very specific in the goals you want to achieve.

Dont’ become a social media recruitment statistic, build a plan to meet your business needs and evolve your recruitment strategy based on it. Then and only then will social media become the answer to your recruitment problems.

Share your success, tell me why you’re not a statistic.
